Figure in limbo No 2

ABOUT

The piece was partly inspired by photos of miners squashed in at the coal face and partly by the Tears for Fears song ‘Women in Chains’. It reminds me of a specimen trapped in a prepared microscope slide.  The painting can be hung from different sides -the figure can’t move anyway – she seems to be in limbo -waiting for release.

MARLON LODGE BIOGRAPHY

I have always painted, but graduated from Cardiff University in Economics 1979 and then became an English Teacher. The economics we were taught e.g. assumption that consumers have ‘infinite wants’ was always prominent to my way of thinking, as was the ‘growth mantra’. I now work on educational projects in Düsseldorf, Germany.
