TAMAR GETTER BIOGRAPHY 

Tamar Getter (1953) studied art 1970 – 72, and literature at Tel Aviv University between 1975 – 79.  Former faculty member and senior lecturer at Bezalel Art Academy, Jerusalem, and the Department of Architecture at the Tel Aviv University.

Getter, prominent in the groundbreaking generation of the 1970s, has been exhibiting continuously since 1973. First major solo show of the Tel Hai Cycle at the Israel Museum, Jerusalem. Since then she has presented in many group shows and over 50 independent solo projects that include painting installations, stage projects, and video works. 2010 her TA Museum GO2retrospective. In 2014 she published her first collection of short stories “Rogatka” (slingshot). In 2018 the painting and video installation “Sacrum” at the Beit Berl Gallery in Tel Aviv, and the recent installations “Thick Shadow” and “Pluck Ploy” in 2019. Getter’s work is in various collections and museums. She has won many awards, the recent one 2019 Dizingof Prize.
